Hayward Tyler’s contract covers variable drive booster pumps whereas Energy Steel will supply 62 solenoid valve and cubicle packages.
The ITER challenge is a joint international research and improvement challenge to show the scientific and technical feasibility of fusion energy. The demonstration facility is beneath development in St-Paul-lez-Durance in France, and would be the largest fusion experimental reactor in the world.
Hayward Tyler’s booster pumps will be an integral part of the drying system for the Tokamak Cooling Water System (TCWS). The pumps will be designed, built and tested at Hayward Tyler Inc in Colchester, Vermont, USA.
Hayward Tyler and Energy Steel are each part of the Engineered Pumps and Motors Division of Avingtrans plc.
“We are elated that two of our firms can provide merchandise that will contribute to this bold project,” mentioned Mike Turmelle, managing director of Avingtrans’ Engineered Pumps and Motors Division. “ Bonus ’re dedicated and proud to contribute to the advanced nuclear trade.” These contracts follow previous awards that ITER has made to Avingtrans’ Engineered Pumps and Motors Division.
